You don’t always have to read a list of words off a sheet of paper to do the review words section of a lesson.
Sometimes just changing up the format helps make a drill feel different, and any time students can pick up and handle something off the page it adds another dimension.
Old business cards are a great size for making a card deck of review words. Just turn them over and write one review word on each card. Give your student a stack of the cards and have them pick up one card at a time and read it. If they get the word correct, they keep the card. If they miss the word, work it out as usual, then you get the card. At the end, have the student reread all the cards they missed.
